Realism & Fantasy in the Time of Trump

What prompts writerly choices of genres? Why do writers write and readers read? What connects them? Does reading and writing still matter today? Vermont authors Laurie Forest and Rickey Gard Diamond put their heads together to talk about writing in very different genres. They'll read from their work, discuss issues, and field your questions.

Rickey Gard Diamond is an award-winning journalist with Vermont Woman, a novelist (Second Sight) whose short fiction has just been collected in Whole Worlds Could Pass Away. Her non-fiction book Screwnomics is due out in April of 2018.

Laurie Forest is a fantasy writer whose first novel The Black Witch was crittically acclaimed this year, sparked a pre-pub internet fury, and earned a devoted following of fans, with an in-demand sequel on the way.

Introduced and moderated by local editor and writer Bronwyn Fryer.
